Flights are cheap, really cheap. Why is it that we can take plane from Orlando to Bogotá for $49 but if I take a cab from JFK to Newark airports it will cost $200?
Why can't I just fly from JFK to Newark?
Living in Jersey City, I get more in tune every year to how inefficient the public transportation is between the states. I drone on about how Jersey City should vote to secede and go to New York City so the transit systems would merge. The savings would be huge...but then someone pointed out to me how many city employees would be laid off if that merger ever took place and I realized that it would never happen.
In my fantasies, there are high-speed subways connecting each of the three airports here making a true transportation hub. Of course, also in my fantasies, people would be allowed to just walk across the bridge to go to Ellis Island rather than paying the politically powerful ferry companies fees...
