Am I the only one who, upon seeing a proudly displayed Certificate of Competence, believes that the person that hung it on a wall is anything but? I really don't get it. A Certificate of Excellence perhaps or a Certificate of Outstanding Ability, but of Competence?
I guess it betrays my overall feelings for credentialism, many people love to get approval and a certificate that proves it is even better.
