Countdown: 5 days til the marathon! And I am *so* ready to get this thing over with. I've trained heavily the last 11 weeks for the event and now in the final hour the worst has happened and I have an injury. Some mysterious knee pain, it's light, but an injury nonetheless. To help, I've all but shut down my training since the 30th when it manifested itself and have been waiting for the pain to go away, but it remains.
Fortunately, my training is mostly complete and this rest period won't hurt me if the healing accelerates in the next few days. Unfortunately, it's stressing me out because it's a lingering doubt. Never fear, I'll likely still run in the marathon (exactly what I'm not supposed to do), since I have to wait another year to do it again.
If anybody has any advice, I'd love to hear it because the usual googling has yet to produce any further information. In doing so, I have learned quite a bit about the knee and how complex this seemingly simple joint is. No wonder so many people have problems with this part of their body.
Knee pain sucks as I well know. Where is it and when do you feel it?
Ibuprofen is your friend.
